Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, unity, and sustained development, declaring that, by God willing, he would complete his first tenure and seek a second term in office despite what he described as unfounded claims by the opposition.
The governor made this known on his return to Kano from Abuja, where he attended the All Progressives Congress National Convention.
His arrival sparked a massive outpouring of support, as thousands of enthusiastic supporters trooped out to welcome him in what observers described as a strong show of political strength and public confidence.
From the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport through major roads leading to the Government House, supporters from across the 44 local government areas of the state lined the streets, chanting slogans, waving party flags, and expressing solidarity with the governor while offering prayers for his re-election.
Addressing the crowd shortly after his arrival, Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception, describing it as a clear demonstration of the people’s trust in his leadership and the direction of his administration.
He used the opportunity to dismiss speculations by opposition figures that his tenure would be cut short, insisting that his mandate remains intact and firmly rooted in the will of God and the people of Kano State.
According to him, no amount of political pressure or distraction would derail his administration from delivering on its promises.
“I will, by the grace of God, complete my tenure and go for a second term. The people of Kano have given us their mandate, and we will continue to serve them with dedication and sincerity,” the governor stated.
Governor Yusuf further explained that his participation in the APC National Convention was aimed at strengthening political collaboration at the national level and positioning Kano State to benefit from federal partnerships and development initiatives.
He noted that such engagements are crucial for ensuring that the state remains relevant in national discourse and attracts investments capable of improving the living standards of its citizens.
Reiterating his administration’s priorities, the governor said his government remains focused on critical sectors such as education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment, areas he described as central to the progress and prosperity of Kano State.
He also called on residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and united, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.
The governor has, however, urged the public to resist any attempt by individuals or groups seeking to incite unrest or create division for political gain.
He assured that his administration would continue to implement policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens, emphasizing that transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness would remain the guiding principles of his leadership.
Governor Yusuf further appealed for sustained support from the people, noting that governance is a collective responsibility requiring the cooperation of all stakeholders.
