In a bid to enhance the effectiveness of its state counsel, the Kano State Government has distributed volumes of essential laws governing the prosecution of criminal and civil cases in courts.
The distribution took place during the closing ceremony of a three-day induction training for 70 newly appointed state counsel. The initiative aims to equip them with the necessary legal knowledge and skills for effective case prosecution.
This was contained in a statement by Aminu Bello Sani, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Ministry of Justice, which was made available to The Triumph Online.
Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Haruna Isah Dederi, disclosed that the materials distributed include the Criminal Code, Penal Code, Evidence Act, and other relevant statutes essential for criminal and civil proceedings in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Attorney General, Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Barr. Mustapha Nurradden Muhammad, commended the state government for providing critical legal resources, reinforcing its commitment to justice and the rule of law.
Barr. Muhammad praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s dedication to justice sector reforms, stating that in his over 30 years in the ministry, such a large-scale provision of essential materials to state counsel had never occurred.
He urged the newly inducted counsel to reciprocate the gesture through diligence and professionalism, warning that the ministry would not tolerate laxity or inefficiency.
