The Kano State Government has announced plans to strengthen bilateral ties with the Republic of India across key development sectors, including education, health, agriculture, mining, and investment.
This was contained in a press release issued on Sunday and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, following a courtesy visit to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf by the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Abhishek Singh.
According to the statement, the governor told the visiting envoy that he met the education sector “in total decay” upon assumption of office and briefed the Indian delegation on his efforts to revamp the system, including foreign scholarship opportunities.
The release added that the Kano State Government is seeking collaboration with India across multiple areas such as education, agriculture, health, and mining.
The statement noted that Governor Yusuf reiterated his readiness to work with the Indian Government after watching a presentation on the KYAN machine by officials of the High Commission, who demonstrated its potential to enhance teaching and learning in Kano schools.
Earlier, Ambassador Singh informed the governor that India is seeking enhanced cooperation with Kano State in education, health, agriculture, mining, and broader investments.
He also directed his team to demonstrate how the KYAN system could support the state’s educational goals.
The visit featured an exchange of souvenirs between Governor Yusuf and the Indian High Commissioner as a mark of strengthened diplomatic goodwill.
