The Kano State Government has restated its commitment to aligning with national strategies aimed at driving sustainable economic growth and strengthening public health initiatives.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, gave the assurance while attending the 151st meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer, deputy governor’s office.
The meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, endorsed the Renewed Hope Development Plan (2026–2030), a strategic framework designed to place Nigeria on the path toward achieving a $1 trillion economy.
It also deliberated extensively on fresh efforts to eradicate a newly identified variant of poliovirus, with stakeholders stressing the need for coordinated actions between the federal and state governments to safeguard public health and consolidate earlier successes in polio campaigns.
Speaking after the meeting, Gwarzo reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to the successful implementation of the development plan and other national initiatives targeted at economic transformation and public health security.
“Kano State is fully committed to supporting the Renewed Hope Development Plan and every initiative that promotes sustainable growth and the well-being of our people,” the Deputy Governor said.
He explained that the state would continue to collaborate with the Federal Government, development partners, and other stakeholders to create opportunities for economic prosperity while strengthening health interventions, particularly to protect children against polio.
According to him, “Our focus remains on ensuring that Kano contributes meaningfully to national development efforts while guaranteeing economic resilience and improved health outcomes for Nigerians.”
Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, Information Officer in the Office of the Deputy Governor, confirmed that the state government remains resolute in its determination to implement policies that would enhance prosperity and protect citizens’ health.
