The Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps has reiterated that it is a legally established security outfit backed by state law, and not an informal or conventional group.
The Commander General of the Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik (RTD), made the disclosure while addressing officers and personnel at the Agency’s Headquarters.
The statement was issued by Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim Anipr, Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Lt. Col. Abdulmalik explained the legal foundation of the Corps, saying, “The Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps was created under the enabling laws of Kano State to complement other security agencies in maintaining peace, law, and order across communities.”
He charged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in all their duties. “We must work in close collaboration with recognized security organizations, ensuring peace, stability, and security throughout Kano State,” he added.
Reflecting on the significance of Ramadan, the Commander General urged personnel to emulate virtues such as patience, sacrifice, and compassion. “Let us strengthen unity, mutual respect, and commitment to serving the people of Kano State, drawing inspiration from the spiritual lessons of this blessed month,” he said.
He also encouraged members to pray for guidance and protection in their duties. “We must pray for sustainable peace, prosperity, and stability across our state and nation, for peace and security remain the foundation for development,” he said.
He commended officers for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding communities. “Remain steadfast in protecting lives and property, for your commitment defines the integrity and strength of this Corps,” the Commander General added.
According to the Director of Public Enlightenment, the gathering offered an opportunity for renewed unity, reflection, and collective commitment toward strengthening community-based security and promoting peaceful coexistence in Kano State.
