The Katsina State Government has allocated N36.2 billion for the construction of a 54.7-kilometer road.
This project will connect the Kadanya-Kunduru-Radda-Tsakatsa-Ganuwa route, spanning Charanchi and Kankia Local Government Areas.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced the initiative during the official groundbreaking ceremony, emphasizing that the allocated budget covers both road construction and compensation for affected landowners and property holders.
Governor Radda revealed that the state government has already disbursed N14 billion in mobilization fees, which represents 40 percent of the total project cost, to Stan Tech Engineering Construction Company.
The project is slated for completion within a 1.5-year timeline.
The Governor highlighted the strategic importance of the road, stressing that it will significantly enhance economic opportunities for the communities it serves.
“This road will be a key link, addressing existing infrastructural challenges that have long hindered economic activities, limited access to education and healthcare, and obstructed the movement of agricultural produce,” Governor Radda said.
He further described the road as a symbol of hope, progress, and a brighter future for surrounding communities and urged local residents to protect the project from potential vandalism.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transport, Engr. (Dr) Sani Magaji Ingawa, confirmed that the road project will cover seven electoral wards, including Kunduru in Kankia Local Government.
He assured stakeholders of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the high-quality execution of the project in partnership with the construction company and other relevant stakeholders.
The Managing Director of Stan Tech Engineering, Mr. Lee, expressed gratitude to the state government for the opportunity to contribute to its development.
He reported that land clearance and sand filling have already begun, acknowledging that previous delays were caused by the late evacuation of farm produce by local farmers.
