Former Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, has commenced consultations with aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following controversies surrounding the party’s recently concluded consensus arrangements in parts of the state.

Masari is chairing a reconciliation committee set up by Governor Dikko Umar Radda.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, the member representing Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abubakar Yahaya Kusada, said the committee invited affected stakeholders to a reconciliation meeting held on Tuesday night.

According to Kusada, the meeting focused on addressing grievances arising from the APC consensus process that affected several constituencies across Katsina State.

Kusada said that during the session, former Governor Masari stated that the committee was specifically constituted to restore unity within the ruling party and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This committee is mandated to reconcile aggrieved members, bridge divisions within our state APC chapter, and ensure party cohesion ahead of 2027,” Masari stated.

The lawmaker explained that the meeting lasted several hours, during which participants raised key concerns related to the consensus arrangements and political developments within the party.

He noted that the issues were extensively deliberated upon, with party leaders and stakeholders working towards amicable resolutions aimed at preserving unity and stability within the APC in Katsina State.

The reconciliation effort is believed to be part of broader moves by the Katsina APC leadership to calm tensions and prevent possible defections or internal disputes following disagreements that emerged after the party’s internal consultations and consensus decisions in some constituencies.
