From Muawuya Bala Idris Katsina
The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Katsina has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Alhaji Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, describing his death as a tremendous loss to the journalism profession.
Alhaji Funtua, who was 58, passed away in the early hours of Thursday in Katsina after battling a prolonged illness. He leaves behind two wives, nine children, and grandchildren.
In a statement issued by the Chapel Chairman, Yusuf Ibrahim Jargaba, the late Funtua’s immense contributions to the media industry were highlighted. Funtua worked with several prominent media organizations, including the Katsina State Radio Service, Today, Leadership, and Peoples Daily newspapers, as well as DITV Broadcast, among others.
The statement further prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and to provide strength to his immediate family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones in bearing this irreplaceable loss.
