The Katsina State Government, in partnership with Qatar Charity, has distributed economic empowerment tools to 160 orphans and vulnerable people across the state.
The items handed over at the flag-off ceremony included 20 tricycles, 20 tricycle cargoes, 20 grinding machines, and 100 sewing machines.
Speaking at the event, Governor Dikko Radda said the initiative was aimed at restoring dignity, creating opportunities, and promoting inclusion for vulnerable groups.
“Orphans, widows, the elderly, and vulnerable individuals: You are not forgotten. You are seen. You are valued,” the governor said, urging beneficiaries to use the items to start small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
He stressed that the distribution was not just material support but “tools for transformation and steps toward economic independence,” assuring that his administration would sustain social safety nets, vocational training, and microfinance schemes for the poor.
Radda also commended Qatar Charity Nigeria for its humanitarian interventions, describing its work as “planting seeds of change.”
Earlier, the Special Adviser on Girl Child Education and Child Development, Jamila Abdu Mani, said the items were designed to make beneficiaries self-reliant.
On his part, Qatar Charity’s Country Director, Assem Abu Al Shaer, noted that each piece of equipment would help recipients generate income and create further opportunities for others.
