From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
A member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Chiranchi Local Government Area, Hon. Lawal Isah Kuraye, has recruited 35 casual workers to address manpower shortages in the health and education sectors of the area.
The appointment letters were presented to the beneficiaries during a working visit by Governor Dikko Umar Radda to the local government.
Kuraye said 16 of the workers were deployed to various primary schools, while 19 were posted to health centres across the council.
He explained that the initiative was part of his effort to complement government interventions and reduce unemployment at the grassroots.
“The measure will help improve service delivery in our health and education sectors,” the lawmaker said.
Kuraye disclosed that he had earmarked ₦16.8m to cover the payment of salaries for the casual workers for a two-year period, assuring that salaries would be paid regularly without delay.
“I will ensure prompt and consistent payment of their monthly salaries,” he added.
The lawmaker also commended the administration of Governor Radda for equipping health centres across wards in Chiranchi and for constructing new schools while renovating dilapidated structures.
In addition, Kuraye announced the disbursement of over ₦31.8m as empowerment support to 100 individuals and groups in the constituency.
He said the cash empowerment, which is the second phase of the programme, was aimed at making beneficiaries self-reliant and economically productive.
Kuraye expressed appreciation to the people of Chiranchi for their continued support, pledging quality representation and the protection of their interests at the state assembly.
Responding, Governor Radda commended the lawmaker for complementing government efforts to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods.
He also praised the empowerment initiative, describing it as a practical step toward inclusive development and community growth.
