Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Katsina State, teachers in Jibia Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sirajo Ado.
The endorsement, which included teachers from 84 primary schools and their headmasters, was formalized during a gathering at the Jibia Local Government Secretariat.
The teachers also presented a letter of appreciation to the candidate, commending his contributions to the education sector.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary of the Local Education Authority, Dr. Auwalu Isheyi, highlighted that the decision to support Sirajo Ado was a collective one involving teachers, students, and parents.
“Sirajo Ado, who served with the Local Education Authority for 20 years before retiring, demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in his dealings with staff and stakeholders. He played a pivotal role in reviving education in Jibia,” Isheyi stated.
Dr. Isheyi enumerated some of Sirajo’s achievements, including the provision of solar-powered electricity, the construction of a borehole at the authority’s headquarters, and the donation of a bus for effective school monitoring. Through his foundation, Sirajo has sponsored over 200 indigenes of Jibia to pursue their education.
“He has always opened his doors to provide financial assistance for educational purposes,” Isheyi added, emphasizing that over 9,000 teachers in the area have pledged their support for his candidacy.
In his remarks, the Secretary of Jibia Local Government, Mohammed Lawal, expressed confidence in the APC’s victory, urging the people of the area to pray for a peaceful election.
The Chairman of APC in Jibia, Nasiru Al-Mustapha Dantye, lauded the teachers for their support and reassured them of the state government’s commitment to improving education.
He revealed that the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda would soon commence the construction of a new secondary school and the renovation of existing schools across Jibia.
Responding to the endorsement, Sirajo Ado expressed his gratitude and vowed not to let the people down. He promised to prioritize education if elected into office.
Meanwhile, a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC was held in Jibia to strategize for the party’s success in the local government elections.
