The chairman of Rimi local government in Katsina State, Muhammed Ali Rimi has dismissed claim by opposition in the state that Governor Dikko Umar Radda is tampering with local government council federal allocation.
Speaking with newsmen, Ali said the administration of Governor Radda has ensure financial autonomy for the local government in the state.
Ali explained that the claim that Local Government in the state are not enjoying financial autonomy is not true.
“Local Government councils in Katsina enjoy financial autonomy, Governor Dikko Radda is not tempering with the council’s fund” he said.
He said the financial autonomy enjoy by the councils encourage the councils to execute developmental projects to enhance living standard of the people.
Ali said the recent tour by Governor Radda to Local Government council testified that, the council enjoy financial autonomy as many projects were commissioned.
The project commissioned by the Governor cover areas of health, road, water supply agriculture among others.
Ali further said during the tour the councils distributed empowerment items worth millions of Naira for the poor, needy, widows and others vulnerable groups.
He accused the opposition in the state for spreading false information regarding financial autonomy of the local government, emphasizing that the council chairmen are in better position to explain whether they are enjoying financial autonomy or not.
He commended Radda’s administration for all its support to the local government council to execute its mandate as third tiers of government.
