From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Katsina State Government has appealed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to urgently intervene in the shortage of vehicle number plates in the state.
The Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Revenue Service, Mohammed Isyaku, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement by the Director of Corporate Communication, Sada Shuaibu, Isyaku said the shortage was affecting the registration of vehicles in the state as many customers visit the revenue service daily to process their plate numbers.
He urged the FRSC boss to “intervene in whatever way possible to ensure adequate supply of plate numbers to the state.”
Responding, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, assured that the FRSC would assist the Katsina State Revenue Service with the available plate numbers and provide other necessary support.
Meanwhile, a seven-member committee has been inaugurated for the take-off of the Central Billing Platform in Chiranchi Local Government Area.
The committee comprises directors of revenue-generating departments, retired civil servants, and revenue officers.
Inaugurating the committee, Isyaku, represented by the Executive Director, Revenue Operation, Al-Mustapha Bashir, tasked members to come up with strategies to boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
He explained that the central billing system was introduced to plug leakages in revenue generation.
