Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has drafted a bill for the creation of a Social Protection Agency.
The state Commissioner of Budget, Bello Kagara, revealed this at a 5-day stakeholders meeting held in Zaria.
Represented by the Director of the Social Protection Programme, Tijjani Umar, Kagara commended UNICEF for its assistance in improving resource allocation for the programme.
Kagara explained that the workshop is organised in collaboration with the UNICEF Kano field office to develop an operational plan for 2025
.He said due to the importance of the Social Protection Programme, a legislative forum was recently inaugurated aimed at ensuring the proper allocation of funds to the programme.

Secretary of the Ministry Ibrahim Safana Commended Unicef for supporting implementation agencies to execute various developmental projects in the state.
Safana, who spoke through the director of finance, Abdu Usman, called on the participants to work toward achieving the objective of the workshop.
