The Kano State Government under the watch of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has distanced itself from hundreds of protesters carrying Russian flags around the State, insisting that they are not a known group to the Government.
The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Malam Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Explained that during the Media Pallie with a Journalist in his office on Monday.
The Director of Media said the protesters carrying Russian flags were not affiliated with the government or any of its agents.
Dawakin Tofa added that the genuine protesters had submitted their grievances, which would be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
He said that the State Government has announced the establishment of a committee of inquiry to investigate the senseless killings and looting of public buildings that occurred during the protests.
The committee’s main objective was to determine the root causes of the violence that led to the killings and destruction and identify those responsible for the acts.
Bature while speaking on those apprehended said, 632 suspects were arrested for vandalizing public buildings during recent protests in different parts of the state.
He said, the suspects were arrested during the protests and have since been arraigned before various courts in the metropolis.
He emphasised the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, warning that those found guilty of vandalism would face the wrath of the law.
