The Kano State Government (KNSG), through the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, has organised a colourful Sallah party for children of the Nassarawa Children’s Home.
The event formed part of the government’s commitment to promoting the welfare, happiness, and social inclusion of vulnerable children across the state.
Held at Kanawa Park, the celebration brought together children, caregivers, and ministry staff in a lively atmosphere filled with recreational activities, entertainment, and shared meals to mark the festive season.
The commissioner for the ministry, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, who was ably represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Iliyasu, emphasised the importance of creating moments of joy and a sense of belonging for children in care.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Malama Bintu Nuhu Yakasai, the commissioner noted that the Sallah celebration reflects the government’s continued dedication to nurturing the emotional and social well-being of children, particularly those in institutional homes.
The event was attended by directors of the ministry, as well as heads of sister institutions, including Goron Dutse Remand Home, Kwalli VVF Centre, and Torrey Home, Tudun Maliki.
Residents from these homes were also present, providing an opportunity for interaction, bonding, and shared celebration among the children.
The commissioner reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in caring for vulnerable groups and called on stakeholders and the general public to continue supporting initiatives that improve the lives of children and persons with special needs.
The celebration featured games, music, and various fun-filled activities designed to uplift the spirits of the children and create lasting memories.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining such initiatives, ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of happiness, care, and dignity.
