Kano witnessed a massive show of political strength and popular support as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf returned to the state following his participation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Thousands of supporters thronged the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport and major entry points into the city, turning the Governor’s arrival into a powerful display of grassroots dominance and party unity.
The electrifying reception, marked by chants, music, and a sea of party flags, brought movement across key roads in the metropolis to a standstill, as residents came out in solidarity with the Governor.
The massive turnout underscores Governor Yusuf’s growing political influence and the deepening connection between his administration and the people of Kano State.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Yusuf described the reception as both humbling and energizing, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to people-centered governance and the delivery of tangible democratic dividends.
He emphasized that his administration remains focused and determined to accelerate development across key sectors.
The Governor also rallied party faithful to sustain unity and strengthen grassroots mobilization as the political landscape continues to evolve.
“I want to use this opportunity to reassure the good people of Kano State that the present administration, under my stewardship, will continue to provide the dividends of democracy in all critical areas of human endeavour,” he stated
The Governor said he would sustain the state’s partnership with the Federal Government under the able leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attract federal interventions for Kano State.
“APC is consolidated in unity of purpose, and In Sha Allah, the party will win all elective positions in the forthcoming 2027 general elections,” the governor prayed.
The reception signals a consolidation of political momentum and reinforces Kano’s strategic importance in the party’s broader national outlook.
The reception was organized by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) under the leadership of its chairperson, Hon. Sa’adatu Yusha’u Soja, and witnessed a tremendous turnout of stakeholders, including party executives, political office holders, supporters, singers, traders, among others.
It took the crowd eight (8) hours to escort Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to the Government House, a journey that would ordinarily take about 15 minutes.
It could be noted that the mammoth crowd is second only to that of January 12, 2024, when the governor returned to Kano following the Supreme Court judgment.
