Troops of Operation Fasan Yanma (OPFY) have neutralized a suspected arms supplier who attempted to escape after being intercepted with weapons intended for bandits.
The incident occurred during a night operation in Nasarawa Burkullu, Zamfara State. Acting on intelligence, security forces intercepted the suspect, who was allegedly involved in arms trafficking from Anka Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the suspect attempted to flee upon sighting the troops but was swiftly neutralized.
Military sources revealed that preliminary investigations confirmed he was transporting firearms and ammunition to armed groups operating in the region.
The bandits had reportedly been struggling with a shortage of weapons as troops intensified their offensive against them.
