The Plateau North Equity Project (PNEP), a peaceful advocacy initiative representing minority ethnic groups in Plateau North Senatorial District, has called for fairness, justice, and equitable distribution of political positions across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial zone.
Addressing journalists on Thursday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Jos, the leader of the group, Evangelist Arom Daniel Izang, expressed concern over what he described as the continued concentration of leadership positions in the hands of one dominant ethnic group in Plateau North.
According to him, true democracy thrives on inclusion, balance, and shared responsibility.
He stated that PNEP firmly believes that the minority ethnic nationalities of the zone deserve fair treatment as a matter of justice, inclusion, and recognition of their longstanding commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“For years, these communities have provided the electoral backbone of the APC in Plateau North and, arguably, across Plateau State.
“Yet, when it comes to elective positions, the goose that lays the golden egg is repeatedly neglected and left watching from the sidelines,” he said.
Izang lamented that individuals who once claimed they wanted to “add value” to the APC were now overseeing a process that excluded the very communities that contributed significantly to the party’s founding, growth, promotion, and sustenance through unwavering loyalty and electoral support.
“As the APC looks ahead to the 2027 general elections, it must confront a critical question: Can a party truly thrive when its most loyal supporters are consistently denied meaningful representation?
“The answer may determine not only the future of the APC in Plateau North but also the strength and unity of the party across Plateau State,” he added.
