The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has commended Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for what it described as his “transformational leadership” and sweeping reforms in the state’s health and governance sectors.
The commendation was conveyed in a letter personally signed by NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, and read on her behalf by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, during the 33rd State Executive Council meeting held on Saturday.
In the letter, NAFDAC expressed readiness to partner with the Kano State Government to strengthen public health regulation, combat the circulation of substandard medicines and ensure ethical and safe distribution of drugs and medical products across the state.
A statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said Governor Yusuf received the commendation with appreciation, noting that his administration is committed to deepening collaboration with federal agencies toward improving healthcare delivery.
Yusuf, according to the statement, welcomed NAFDAC’s proposal for partnership and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure the availability of safe and effective medicines in all health facilities in the state.
The governor also commended Adeyeye for what he described as her “proactive leadership” and the agency’s national role in safeguarding public health.
The statement added that the Kano State Government remains committed to policies that promote human capital development, ethical governance and public welfare, in line with the Kwankwasiyya philosophy.
