The Airlift to the Saudi Arabia was conveyed in 40 flight from over 20 states of the federation.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Assistant Director, Information and Publication, Fatima Sanda Usara recently said there is a notable improvement in this year’s operation over 2024 exercise.
“NAHCON Chairman Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman commended the performance of the airlines, the state Pilgrims’ Boards and other stakeholders for their cooperation that facilitated the smooth and timely movement of pilgrims,” the statement added.
However, after spending four days in Madinah the Prophet’s City, the first contingent of 1,874 Nigerian pilgrims from Imo, Bauchi, Kebbi, Osun, and Kogi states, have started moving to Makkah today.
This marks the first set of Nigerian pilgrims to enter Makkah for the 2025 hajj, representing a significant milestone in Nigeria’s participation in this year’s Hajj.
En route to Makkah, the pilgrims will stop at Miqat Dhul Hulaifa, where they will enter the state of ihram, a significant moment that marks their transition into a state of ritual purity and devotion.
The pilgrims are expected to perform Umrah immediately upon arrival in Makkah today.
Officials are working diligently on the ground to facilitate smooth transitions and distribute Nusuk cards an essential document that allow pilgrims access to Makkah.
