Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, has urged Nigerians to sustain their support for policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The Minister made the appeal in a speech presented by the Acting Head of the Federal Information Centre in Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulkadir. The speech highlighted various achievements across development sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, and intervention programs.
The Minister stated that the Tinubu administration’s achievements have garnered widespread commendation from within and outside the country.
He mentioned the distribution of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to farmers in Sokoto State, recognizing the importance of farming to the majority of citizens. Additionally, bags of rice were sold at subsidized rates to low-income earners and civil servants, while mass housing, ecological, and health services were provided.
The Minister also highlighted the construction of the Sokoto-Gusau Road and Funtua-Zaria Road, which greatly benefits citizens. Furthermore, the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, spanning multiple states to the South, has boosted economic activities.
Idris noted that dams and irrigation schemes undertaken by the Tinubu government are progressing and will provide opportunities for power generation, agriculture, and job creation. Other initiatives include a student loan scheme, consumer credit corporation, and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
The Minister attributed the implementation of local government autonomy and the establishment of Ministries of Regional Development and Livestock Development to deliberate efforts by President Tinubu to drive development nationwide.
Regarding security challenges, the Minister assured that the administration supports all security agencies and urged the media to acknowledge the efforts of military personnel.
He promised more beneficial policies, programs, and infrastructure provision, emphasizing that the Renewed Hope Agenda is key to transforming citizens’ lives.
The town hall meeting was attended by traditional leaders, government agencies, Sokoto State officials, and the public.
