In a significant political sweep, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has claimed victory in all 44 chairmanship and 484 councilorship elections across the state.
This announcement was made by Professor Sani Sani Lawan Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), during a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters.
Prof. Malumfashi confirmed that all chairmanship and councillorship candidates had successfully secured their positions, marking a successful execution of KANSIEC’s constitutional mandate to plan, organize, coordinate, and conduct local government elections.
“The electoral exercise has been largely peaceful and successful in all aspects,” Prof. Malumfashi stated.
He expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including security agencies, media organizations, and political party leaders, for their vital roles in ensuring a smooth electoral process.
He also acknowledged the contributions of civil society organizations in promoting grassroots democracy in Kano.
“I am profoundly thankful to the good people of Kano for their collective support, prayers, and positive engagement,” he added, highlighting the credibility and fairness of the election process.
The election saw participation from six political parties, including the NNPP, All Progressives Congress (APC), African Action Congress (AAC), Accord Party, and others.
The chairman underscored that the peaceful conduct of the elections reflects the commitment of all involved to uphold democratic values in the state.
