The Katsina state government has inaugurated a community-level Transition committee to work with UNICEF toward addressing the out-of-school children phenomenon in the State.
The committee will give more attention to six local government areas including Baure, Sankara, Kafur, Rimi, Katsina and Mani local government respectively.
Inaugurating the Committee, assistant director in charge of statistics of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Idris Usman Charged the Committee to work with relevant stakeholders to achieve the target objective.
Usman said the Committee is mandated to identify barriers hindering a smooth transition from one level of education to another.
He also said the Committee should conduct a headcount of students and proper record keeping especially data.
In his speech, the Education Secretary of Rimi Council, Salisu Ibrahim Kadandani described the inauguration of the Committee as the right step to improve enrollment in schools.
Kadandani called on education stakeholders to give the committee all necessary support.
Earlier UNICEF representative, Dr.Hafsat Yahaya noted that the move will promote Girl child education.
