From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Malam Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has resigned from his position.
Dingyadi, who served as spokesman to Ambassador Iliya Damagum for more than three years, tendered his resignation in a letter dated June 25, 2025. The letter was addressed to the PDP Acting National Chairman.
Although he did not state the reason for stepping down, Dingyadi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and for the support he received throughout his tenure.
“I appreciate the support and prayers of the PDP family during my tenure, and I’m grateful for the contributions that ensured the success of my assignment,” the letter read in part.
Widely regarded as a consistent and reliable source of information within the PDP, Dingyadi was a regular face on radio and television, where he defended the party’s position on major political and internal issues. He was also active in clarifying the PDP’s stance during times of internal crisis.
A veteran journalist, Dingyadi’s career in media and politics spans over two decades. He has worked with prominent media organisations, including Nasiha/Reporter and the BBC Hausa Service.
His political communication experience includes roles in the campaigns of Obasanjo/Atiku (1999 and 2003), Jonathan/Sambo (2011), and Atiku/Okowa (2023). He also served under the late Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal.
Dingyadi was part of the media machinery for major political blocs such as the People’s Front of Nigeria led by the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, the Social Democratic Party, the Democratic People’s Party under Attahiru Bafarawa, and the administration of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
