The Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has entered into a partnership with its Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society to enhance service delivery and improve staff welfare.
The collaboration was formalised on August 4 with the groundbreaking ceremony for the cooperative’s new secretariat on the university campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Associate Prof. Keziah Ayuba, congratulated the cooperative for embarking on projects that directly benefit members.
“We look forward to improved cooperation between the cooperative society and the university management to enhance service delivery and the welfare of staff,” he said, pledging the institution’s continued support for the project.
Cooperative president, Mr. Nansdl Nimyel, said the secretariat — to be built through direct labour — would improve the administration of the society and boost member benefits. He thanked the university for donating the land, noting that the project fulfilled one of his campaign promises.
The university’s Registrar, Mr. Yakubu Ayuba, lauded the cooperative’s growth and predicted it could eventually establish a bank, while the Chief Librarian, Associate Prof. Shehu Alahde, praised its impact on members’ lives.
