The Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election ended on a dramatic note on Thursday, with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang emerging as the winner of the contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other aspirants for the APC governorship ticket included the incumbent Governor Mutfwang and Chief Yilchini Jan Bida.
Announcing the result on Friday night at the APC Secretariat in Jos, the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election and State House of Assembly Committee, Chief Fidelis Mnyim, said a total of 239,405 votes were cast in the exercise.
He declared that Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang polled 233,335 votes to defeat Chief Yilchini Jan Bida, who scored 3,070 votes in the primary election conducted across the 17 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the results were collated from all 17 local government areas of Plateau State after a peaceful and orderly exercise.
Chief Mnyim commended party members, delegates, and electoral officials for the peaceful conduct of the primary election across the state, describing the process as transparent and credible.
