The Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed the death of one of its female pilgrims, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, in Saudi Arabia.
The deceased reportedly died on Monday, June 2, 2025, at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah due to complications related to diabetes, according to medical officials.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Daiyabu Dauda, said the incident was promptly reported to him, and in line with the directive of the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, the medical team was instructed to immediately take her to the hospital for treatment.
He added that the Amirul Hajj, other board officials, and family members of the deceased participated in the funeral prayers held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. She was later buried according to Islamic rites.
Quoting the Qur’an, Dauda said, “Whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him – his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah” (Qur’an 4:100).
He extended his condolences to the government and people of Plateau State, as well as the family and loved ones of the deceased. He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul and for her admission into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
