The Plateau State Police Command has successfully apprehended two phone snatchers in Rayfield, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
On Friday, the 30th day of August 2024,, at about 5pm, one Bello Mohammed, 26 years old and Yusuf Ibrahim, 20 years old, bothmaleses of Mai-Adiko villa,ge, forcibly snatched a mobile phone belonging to one Mrs Dorcas around Rayfield, Jos.
A statement signed and issued to newsmen in Jos by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Alfred Alabo further stated that investigations have revealed that the suspects are known for the use of motorcycles to snatch valuables from unsuspecting individuals.
The suspects were, however, arrested by some good citizens of the Rayfield area and handed over to the Police at the Anglo-Jos division.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, extended his gratitude to the law-abiding and vigilant residents of Rayfield for their invaluable assistance in the swift arrest of these perpetrators.
While appreciating their cooperation and commitment to maintaining peace and security in the community is commendable.
The Plateau State Police Command assured that it remains resolute in its commitment to upholding law and order within the State.
He, therefore, warned that any individuals found engaged in nefarious activities to desist from such criminal behaviour, as the Police will not hesitate to deal with those who choose to engage in such criminal acts.
The suspects are currently in their custody and will be prosecuted by the extant laws, which encourage members of the general public to report any suspicious activity to the Command.
