Local Governments in Katsina State received about N130 billion from the Federation Account between June 2023 to July 2024.
Governor Umar Dikko Radda revealed this at a meeting with members of the state House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen and Members of the state Executive council.
Radda said out of the amount N66 billion was spent on salaries, N10.1 billion on pension and gratuity,₦12.1billon on security and ₦376.6millon on security requests from the Local government.
Similarly,₦4billon was spent on running the Local government,₦15.1billon on Various projects executed by the council,₦360 million on procurement of school instructional materials, ₦1.56billon on foreign and local scholarships and ₦933 8millon on Hajj operation.
“The local Government also spent ₦6.14billon on food palliative, another ₦3.1billon on palliative and Sallah packages for Local government and local Education Authority workers,” he said.
Radda said N3.84 billion was spent on procurement of fertilizer and N1.19 billion on agrochemicals.
He said the total amount spent by the local Government stood at ₦128billion under a joint Account.
He added that his administration has set up a joint committee to advise on how best to implement Supreme Court judgement on the autonomy of the local Government.
Meanwhile, Governor Radda has handed over affairs of the Government and proceeded on a month’s vacation.
