The Senator representing Sokoto East, Ibrahim Lamido has announced a scholarship program for students from his constituency, to study Medicine and Engineering in India and Saudi Arabia this year.
Sen. Lamido stated that the program is expected to sponsor over 100 students and is scheduled to begin this year under his scholarship programme aimed at empowering the youth and promoting education in the region.
According to him, the first batch of students will depart in September, followed by another batch in December this year.
He maintains that the selection process will be based on merit while urging the students to take their studies seriously and make their community proud.
Regarding the inclusion of female students, Senator Lamido mentioned that he plans to establish a similar program for girls, with a focus on religious and secular education.
He believes that educating girls is essential for the development of the community and plans to send them to the University of Madina.
The senator also encouraged the students to be diligent in their studies, noting that the scholarship program is a significant investment in their future.
He advised the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity and contribute to the development of their community upon their return.
