The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board has distributed motorcycles and mobile phones to school monitoring officers to strengthen supervision and improve the quality of teaching and learning in public primary and upper basic schools across the state.
The distribution took place on Monday as part of efforts to enhance effective school monitoring and data reporting.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, said the initiative was designed to enable monitoring officers to access schools more easily and transmit education-related data promptly.
Kabir noted that effective school monitoring was critical to improving teaching quality, tracking teachers’ and pupils’ attendance, identifying challenges, and providing professional guidance for better learning outcomes.
He was represented at the event by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Malam Mu’azu Magaji.
According to Kabir, 10 motorcycles were distributed to state evaluators, while 208 mobile phones were issued to School Support Officers and Heads of Academic Units in primary and junior secondary schools across the state.
He explained that the equipment was procured through a collaboration between the Kano State Government and the Universal Basic Education Commission as part of ongoing reforms in the education sector.
The SUBEB chairman urged beneficiaries to use the items responsibly and with integrity, stressing that the goal was to improve learning outcomes and contribute to the moral development of pupils.
In his remarks, Magaji commended the state government and the leadership of SUBEB, describing the initiative as a major boost to staff morale and operational efficiency.
He added that the distribution was part of the board’s broader efforts to strengthen school governance and ensure access to quality basic education across Kano State.
