The member representing Tarauni Local Government in the Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Dahiru Sule, on Saturday marked World Oral Health Day with a free dental outreach for residents of the area.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with Smiles Foundation, was held at the Alu Primary Health Care Centre in Alu ward, where beneficiaries received free dental check-ups and medications.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Information Officer of Tarauni Local Government, Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro.
Represented by his Technical Assistant, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the lawmaker said over 1,000 residents benefited from the outreach, describing it as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to improving the healthcare system and the overall well-being of our constituents,” Abdulkadir said on behalf of the lawmaker.
He also commended Sule for his continued efforts in promoting development across key sectors, including healthcare and education, urging organisations and individuals to support similar interventions aimed at improving community health.
In his remarks, the team leader of the medical outreach, Dr Aliyu Abdullahi of Abubakar Imam Hospital, said World Oral Health Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene.

He noted that the choice of the Alu Primary Health Care Centre for the outreach was made possible through collaboration with the lawmaker.
“This day is set aside globally to promote awareness on oral hygiene and the importance of dental care. We are glad to bring these services closer to the people,” he said.
Some beneficiaries, including Zainab Abbas and Yusuf Bello, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for facilitating the free medical services.
The event was attended by the lawmaker’s media aide, Auwal Umar Baba; Head of Social Media, Abba Wada; and Chairman of the Constituency Advisory Committee, Kabiru Abdulkadir, among others.
