The Chairman of Tarauni Local Government Area in Kano State, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, has presented a land allocation letter to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the construction of a new divisional office in the Karkasara community, Darmanawa ward.
The presentation took place during a special event held on Wednesday in Karkasara, and was attended by traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and security representatives.
According to a statement signed by the council’s Information Officer, Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro, the move is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to bolster security infrastructure and improve the protection of lives and property across Tarauni and its environs.
Speaking at the event, Sekure emphasized that the NSCDC facility would serve as a strategic base to combat rising cases of youth gang violence, drug abuse, theft, and the sale of illicit substances in the area.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening security institutions and ensuring Tarauni is safe and peaceful for all residents,” he said.
The council boss also disclosed that an additional plot of land adjacent to the one allocated to the NSCDC has been earmarked for a proposed Vocational Skills Training Centre. The project, which is awaiting state government approval, is aimed at empowering local youth with practical skills to reduce unemployment and foster self-reliance.
He cautioned residents against spreading misinformation whenever the government rolls out developmental initiatives, urging them instead to support such efforts in the interest of communal progress.
Sekure thanked Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Tajo Othman Zaura, for their unwavering support in facilitating infrastructure development across Tarauni.
In his response, the NSCDC representative in Kano, ACC Ibrahim Ishaq, lauded the council chairman for the gesture, assuring that the Corps would promptly commence construction of the new office to enhance its operational capacity in the area.
“We are grateful for this timely support and we assure the community that the facility will be used optimally to serve the public,” Ishaq said.
The Divisional Officer of the NSCDC in Tarauni, CSC Aminu Muhammad, pledged the Corps’ commitment to working closely with other security agencies to promote peace and security.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Karkasara Community Development Association, Aliyu Sambo, and the Village Head of Darmanawa, Umar Bello, commended the initiative. They described the land allocations for both the security post and the vocational center as visionary and beneficial to the community.
They further called on residents to collaborate with security operatives to combat social vices in the area.
The event ended with community leaders and council officials reaffirming their joint resolve to build a safer and more empowered Tarauni.
