From Ahmad Ibrahim, Gusau
Terrorists on Wednesday planted explosive devices along the Dansadau-Gusau highway in Mai Lamba, Maru Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, leading to the death of several travelers.
Eyewitnesses reported that a bomb exploded, destroying a Gulf wagon carrying over four passengers.
All the occupants of the vehicle were burnt beyond recognition, with their remains scattered across the scene.
“This tragedy occurred just two days after another bomb was planted along the same road, resulting in the death of a truck driver,” a local resident disclosed during a telephone interview with newsmen.
The resident called on the federal and Zamfara state governments to urgently address the security situation in the area, highlighting the ongoing threats faced by communities such as Magami and Dansadau due to persistent terrorist activities over the past six years.
As of the time of filing this report, police authorities have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
