Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and collaborators, including a Chinese national claiming to be a miner, during coordinated operations in Kukawa and Ngala Local Government Areas of Borno State, and Geidam LGA in Yobe State.
The operations, carried out between June 5 and 7, led to the recovery of several items including a vehicle, a motorcycle, mobile phones, a Chinese international passport, and the sum of N10,000.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja while briefing journalists on the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s weekly operational updates.
Kangye said troops also responded to intelligence on terrorist activities in Gwoza and Abadam LGAs of Borno State, and Nangere LGA of Yobe State between June 6 and 9. During the encounters, several terrorists were neutralised while three kidnapped victims were rescued.
“Between June 6 and 11, scores of terrorists, including adult males, females, and children, surrendered to our troops,” he said.
According to Kangye, troops, in collaboration with other security agencies and hybrid forces, also conducted offensive operations in Gwoza, Ngala, and Marte LGAs of Borno State, as well as Bade and Gujba LGAs of Yobe State between June 6 and 10. During the operations, several terrorists were eliminated, one suspected drug peddler was arrested, and three more kidnapped victims were rescued.
Troops also recovered arms and ammunition and destroyed terrorist camps and equipment during the offensives.
Reaffirming the military’s commitment to national security, Kangye stated: “As part of our unwavering commitment to ensuring national security and defending our sovereignty, the Armed Forces of Nigeria continues to undertake strategic operations to counter threats and maintain peace across our country.”
He emphasized that the military remains dedicated to protecting lives and property, upholding the rule of law, and fostering a safe environment for all Nigerians.
“Our operations are planned meticulously to dismantle threats and ensure peace across our borders. The well-being of every Nigerian is central to our mission,” Kangye added.
He also appealed for public support in enhancing national security, noting that citizens’ cooperation is crucial in combating threats.
“By working together, we can build a safer and more prosperous Nigeria. Transparency remains a core value in our operations, and we will continue to keep Nigerians informed,” he said.
