A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah has formally declared his intention to contest elective office after submitting his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

Addressing supporters shortly after completing the process, Tumsah described the move as more than a routine political step, framing it as a firm commitment to pursue change and represent the aspirations of the people of Yobe State.

“This is bigger than just filling forms,” he said. “It signals that we are stepping into this race with everything we’ve got no going back, no second guessing.”

The aspirant said his ambition is rooted in the everyday struggles and hopes of ordinary citizens across the state 17 local government areas.

He specifically referenced traders in Potiskum, young graduates in Damaturu, and farmers in Geidam as key inspirations behind his decision to contest.

According to him, the campaign would focus on inclusive development and practical solutions that address unemployment, economic hardship and agricultural productivity.

“We are not here to make up the numbers,” Tumsah declared. “We are here to fight, to earn every vote and to win. We believe in our party, we will follow due process, but above all, we believe in the people.”

Political observers say Tumsah’s entry into the race could reshape the dynamics within the APC in Yobe, particularly as consultations and alignments gather momentum ahead of party primaries.

While reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, the aspirant emphasized that his campaign would be people-centered, urging residents to actively participate in shaping the state political future.
“The work starts now,” he said.

“Let’s do this together. Yobe will decide.”
His declaration marks the beginning of what is expected to be a closely watched contest in the state, with party stakeholders and voters alike anticipating a competitive primary season.
