The Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) says about 50 women have formed a support network under its Women Against Violence Empowered Through Sustainability (WAVES) project in Kano.
Project Lead, Nathan Bako, disclosed this on Thursday during a dissemination event organised in Kano to present preliminary outcomes of the project after nine months of implementation.
The initiative, he said, is supported by the French Embassy in Nigeria through its Civil Society Funds and implemented in partnership with AgrofixNG.
Bako said the project has helped women beneficiaries build confidence, acquire business management skills and create networks that strengthen their livelihoods.
He noted that the support group allows women to share experiences and encourage one another in addressing social and economic challenges.
Speaking earlier, the Technical Partner’s Team Lead of AgrofixNG, Eric Andrew, said the project also engaged civil society organisations, community leaders and beneficiaries to generate knowledge products for future interventions.
According to Andrew, the initiative aims to ensure that the lessons learned can guide organisations seeking to implement similar empowerment programmes.
