The Special Assistant to the Cross River State Governor on Ranching and Livestock, Alhaji Nasiru Baba Gombe, has said that his first 100 days in office have recorded remarkable achievements under the administration’s mantra: “People First. Production First. Cross River First.”
Addressing journalists in his office, Alhaji Baba Gombe said the Office of the Special Adviser on Livestock Development had, within its first 100 days, focused on assessment, planning, partnerships and laying the foundation for sustainable transformation of the livestock sector.
He said, “In the first 100 days, the Office of the Special Adviser on Livestock Development, Cross River State, has focused on assessment, planning, partnerships and creating the foundation for sustainable transformation of the livestock sector.”
Assessing the progress so far, Gombe said the office had developed a 7-Year Livestock Development Roadmap (2027–2033), conducted a statewide sector assessment, engaged stakeholders, reviewed strategic assets and mobilised the private sector.
He said the focus had been to move from ideas to structured action and sustainable implementation.
According to him, key areas of action include the Statewide Livestock Sector Assessment, 7-Year Livestock Development Roadmap (2027–2033), stakeholder engagement and L-PRES advancement.
Other areas include strategic livestock asset assessment, investment pipeline development, private-sector mobilisation and collaboration with the Federal Government.
Gombe said the emerging approach was aimed at building an integrated livestock value chain connecting production, processing, logistics, finance, markets and investment.
He added that the initiative was expected to create opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, youths and women across Cross River State.
“The first 100 days are about laying the foundation. The work ahead is about turning that foundation into measurable outcomes,” Gombe said.
