From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqa Rabe Darma, has inaugurated a political support group known as Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu and Dikko (GMTD) in Katsina State.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held in Katsina, the minister said the group was established to strengthen grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are committed to this project and will continue to work towards achieving its goals as circumstances permit,” Darma stated.
He urged the newly inaugurated officials of the organisation to remain patient, dedicated and hardworking in order to achieve success.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of GMTD in Katsina, Abubakar Soja Tsanni, described the establishment of the political group as timely and commended the minister for choosing him to lead the movement in the state.
Tsanni assured that members of the group would work tirelessly to mobilise support and ensure victory for the ruling party in the state.
Also speaking at the event, the member representing Rimi/Charanchi/Batagarawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Usman Murtala Banye, commended the initiative and lauded the growing role of political support groups in grassroots mobilisation.
Banye described Darma as a veteran political activist dating back to the era of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, noting that he had consistently supported young people irrespective of their financial background.
He stressed that with the country approaching another election cycle, the support and participation of youths would be critical, adding that organisations such as GMTD play an important role in political mobilisation.
The event was attended by newly inaugurated executives of the organisation and several political stakeholders from Katsina Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the GMTD office located along Daura Road in Katsina.
