From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
Islamic scholars from the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State, under the auspices of the Ma’assasa Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda for second terms in office.
The endorsement was announced during a special prayer session and empowerment programme for more than 500 women organised by the Maituraka Foundation in Katsina.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Nasiru Dahiru Bauchi, who represented the foundation, said the decision was based on what he described as the performance of the Tinubu and Radda administrations.
He commended President Tinubu and Governor Radda for their support for religious organisations and initiatives.
While leading other Islamic scholars in Qur’anic recitations and prayers, Sheikh Nasiru particularly commended Governor Radda for measures taken to address insecurity in Katsina State.
Earlier, the convener of the prayer session, Abdulaziz Maituraka, said the gathering was organised to seek Allah’s intervention in ending insecurity in Katsina State and the country at large.
Maituraka said the event also provided an opportunity to endorse President Tinubu, Governor Radda and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
An APC chieftain who spoke at the event highlighted what he described as the achievements of APC-led administrations at the federal and state levels.
He also commended the Ma’assasa Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation for supporting the second-term bids of President Tinubu and Governor Radda.
The APC chieftain later joined other dignitaries in distributing empowerment packages to 500 women. Each beneficiary received a 50-kilogramme bag of soya beans, cooking oil and N10,000 in cash to support their economic activities.
In his remarks, Governor Radda said his administration would continue to partner with organisations and individuals in efforts to tackle insecurity.
He expressed concern over reports that some individuals and communities were assisting bandits by providing them with information, food, fuel and other supplies.
The governor called for collective efforts to address the security challenges facing the country.
Radda also commended Islamic scholars in the state for organising prayers for peace and urged them to sustain the practice.
He further commended Abdulaziz Maituraka for his humanitarian support for vulnerable people, widows and orphans.
Former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, also commended Governor Radda’s administration, saying the state had recorded progress in several sectors.
