The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, has signed a N22.3 billion contract for the construction of a state-of-the-art flyover bridge and underpass at Damaturu’s main roundabout.
This project marks a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Duddaye, signed the contract on behalf of the Yobe State Government, while Engr. Habib Geojea represented Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, the contracting firm.
“It is important to emphasize that the administration of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, places a high priority on major infrastructural development, including the construction of roads, bridges, drainages, and other civil engineering works,” Duddaye stated.
He added that the flyover bridge and underpass at Damaturu’s main roundabout will cost N22.3 billion and is expected to be completed within 12 months. Additionally, the Yobe State Government has signed a contract with Messrs Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited for the construction of the Damaturu-Gambir Road, with a completion timeline of nine dry months.
The Commissioner further disclosed that Damaturu Metropolis will undergo a major transformation with the construction of 23.5 kilometers of roads, 27 kilometers of concrete-lined drainages, and the resurfacing of all major roads in the state capital. The project is set to commence in the second quarter of 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors, the Area Manager of Triacta Nigeria Limited pledged to deliver high-quality work in line with the contractual agreement.
Residents of Damaturu have expressed excitement over the project, describing it as a long-awaited initiative that will enhance the city’s aesthetics and reinforce its status as the state capital.
This development adds to Governor Buni’s growing list of infrastructural achievements, solidifying his administration’s reputation for transformative governance in Yobe State.
