In line with his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has announced the release of ₦3 billion to settle outstanding gratuities of local government retirees.
The governor made the announcement on Saturday during the Bwatiye 2025 Worldwide Cultural Festival and Development Foundation Fundraising event held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola.
This latest pledge comes shortly after the governor also committed ₦5 billion for gratuity payments to retired state workers during a meeting with Adamawa labour leaders.
Fintiri stated that the ₦3bn earmarked for LG retirees would be released next month, expressing hope that it would ease the financial burdens of many retirees who have served the state diligently.
He congatulated the Bwatiye people for successfully hosting the event themed “Culture and Development”, describing it as timely and vital for fostering unity and progress among the Bwatiye nation.
The governor also thanked the community for their unwavering support over the past six years and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to unity, peace, and development across Adamawa State.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Agbu Kefas, donated ₦15 million to support the fundraising initiative. He described Adamawa and Taraba States as “twin sisters” bound by culture and history.
President of Pene Da Bwatiye Development Association Worldwide, Chief James Iliya, said the festival was organised to celebrate the oneness of the Bwatiye people and promote shared prosperity.
