From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
The Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has earned national recognition for his doggedness, resilience, humility and responsible conduct in governance.
The observation was made by a major stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Managing Director of the Sokoto-Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), Alhaji Abubakar Mallam Shettima Gwandu.
Speaking when he received the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team at the weekend during a nationwide advocacy tour on the administration of Governor Idris, Gwandu said the governor’s leadership qualities, centred on social justice, fairness, equity, patriotism and a genuine commitment to positive transformation, were responsible for the growing calls for the continuity of his administration beyond 2027.
According to him, Governor Idris is being celebrated across Kebbi State for what he described as unprecedented socio-economic development across various sectors, which he said had changed the development narrative of the state.
He listed the sectors to include infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare delivery, economic empowerment for women and youths, as well as security, where the governor had demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to protecting lives and property.
At the national level, Gwandu noted that Governor Idris, a nationally recognised unionist, had succeeded in establishing strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders in the nation’s governance and economic development.
“His humility, compassion, sincerity of purpose, generosity and, above all, the blessings of Allah have made him a symbol of the desired national unity,” he said.
Gwandu further declared: “Without fear of contradiction, I make bold to say that in the history of the present democratic dispensation since 1999, Comrade Nasir Idris is the only governor who has brought together all successful political actors, including former governors, ministers and members of the National Assembly, under the All Progressives Congress, and who are committed to ensuring the success of his administration and the party in general.”
The Managing Director further revealed that the governor’s cordial relationships had attracted numerous benefits to the state, including viable socio-economic development projects and federal appointments for patriotic indigenes committed to the state’s development, including himself.
He added that the national leadership of the APC had adjudged Governor Idris as one of the best-performing governors, while his colleagues in the Progressive Governors’ Forum had expressed confidence in his political resilience and capacity.
Describing the media team as a bridge-builder between the government and the people, Gwandu charged its members to sustain the documentation and publicity of the governor’s achievements, respond to misinformation with facts, and position him appropriately in the nation’s political landscape.
He also urged them not to be distracted by what he described as “desperate rantings of the opposition.”
Earlier, the leader of the team and Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the visit was aimed at showcasing the achievements of Governor Idris and engaging relevant stakeholders on the governance of the state.
