From Joseph Asegba, Yola
Fourteen members of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Suleiman Gankuba, ALGON Chairman in Adamawa State, disclosed this during a press conference in Yola.
Gankuba said the decision of the members was guided by conviction and a shared commitment to stand in solidarity with the state governor. He noted that the move reflected renewed determination to better serve constituents at the grassroots level.
He added that their decision aligned with the aspirations of citizens for continuity, stability, and progress.
“Our movement is not an abandonment of principles but a reaffirmation of them. We are joining the APC as partners ready to work, not as strangers, with vision and resolve to deepen development and strengthen governance,” Gankuba said.
He further explained that their alignment with the APC is aimed at consolidating ongoing development efforts and ensuring sustained growth across local government areas.
The Chairman also revealed that seven other ALGON members are consulting with key stakeholders and grassroots supporters before taking a final decision on their political alignment.
