From Christiana Gokyo, Jos
Following an emergency meeting held recently at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jos, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party in the state has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Miskom Raymond Dabo, who doubles as its substantive state chapter chairman and chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in the state.
Dabo was also commended for his unwavering commitment, proactive leadership, and strategic approach in providing quality direction to the party.
The committee also commended him for ensuring cohesion and stability in the face of ongoing political developments in the state.
A statement from Jos by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Choji Felix Dalyop, said the SWC categorically distanced itself from a desperate and illegitimate gathering purported to be a “Congress” organized by certain interest groups in Jos.
“We advise our members, the general public, and stakeholders to disregard any outcome from the activities emanating from such individuals in question, as Miskom Raymond Dabo’s leadership remains legitimate.
“His charisma, competence, and visionary leadership style have, in no small measure, rejuvenated and redirected the party with focus, vision, and clear direction, which include but are not limited to the following:
“The e-registration of the party on the Plateau has recorded remarkable success, with over 20,000 PDP members registered under the ‘iampdp’ e-registration platform within 14 days of commencement of the process, and still counting.
“The successful sale of nomination and expression of interest forms to individuals vying for the chairmanship and councillorship LGC elections in September 2026, to be conducted by PLASIEC, has been overwhelmingly successful.
“The successful conduct of rancour-free chairmanship and councillorship competitive primaries across the 17 LGAs of the state demonstrates the civility and democratic discipline imbibed by the leadership of the party among members.
“The emergence of Miskom Raymond Dabo as the state chairman of the PDP, alongside other executive members, who were duly and seamlessly elected in a well-contested state congress election in accordance with the extant standards of our great party, among others, on 25th October 2025 in Jos, Plateau State, to steer the affairs of the party,” it said.
According to them, for the avoidance of doubt, they assure all party faithful and stakeholders that their revered Board of Trustees (BoT) members remain intact, united, and focused on working with the SWC to ensure a vibrant and competitive PDP in the state.
It said:
“You will recall that the party had a crucial engagement with our elder statesmen and BoT members to ensure a collaborative approach to our party’s shared objectives on 9th January 2026; and they include the following:
“BoT Member, Northern Zone: Da (Dr.) Jonah D. Jang; BoT Member, Central Zone: Amb. Bagudu M. Hirse; and BoT Member, Southern Zone: Prof. Jemkur G. Lombin.
“As it stands, some of the self-acclaimed BoT products from the purported congress of 17th March 2026 that produced them have been relieved of their offices as political appointees; another one was equally suspended from office for conduct inconsistent with the standards and administrative procedures expected of him as the chairman of a revered government commission in the state.
“In a referenced press release, S/SGS/A/306/XX, dated 17th March 2026, effective immediately, the appointees are to hand over all official documents and property in their possession to the appropriate offices.
“The PDP, as a vibrant political party under the leadership of Miskom Raymond Dabo, is the engine of representative democracy, serving as the essential bridge between citizens, among others.
“Its essence lies in combining a clear ideological vision with the capacity to mobilize the public, recruit leaders, and create actionable policies that respond to citizens’ needs.”
