A meeting of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has unanimously agreed to adopt the consensus method for the emergence of party candidates ahead of future elections.
The meeting, held at the Government House, Katsina, was attended by all party aspirants, officials, and appointed political office holders.
Others in attendance included Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe, members of the National Assembly, and members of the State House of Assembly.
Speaking after the meeting, an aspirant contesting for the Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency, Ahmed Saleh Jino, described the adoption of consensus as the best option for the peaceful emergence of party candidates at all levels.
Saleh said the decision was unanimous and commended party stakeholders for their commitment to peace, unity, and progress within the party.
“I commend party stakeholders for taking steps to ensure peace and unity within the party,” he said.
He further noted that consensus remains the best option that will prevent divisions within the party, adding that the decision would strengthen APC in the state.
Saleh also expressed readiness to support any candidate that emerges through the consensus arrangement, saying he is committed to ensuring the party’s victory in future elections.
