Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared that only Almighty Allah has the power to determine who becomes a leader, emphasizing that no individual or group can install or prevent anyone from attaining a leadership position.
The governor made the remark while addressing Kano pilgrims and Hajj officials during a Sallah visit in Makkah on Wednesday.
The statement was contained in a press release issued by Mustapha Muhammad, Head of the Media Team for Hajj Operations 2026.
Drawing inspiration from the Holy Qur’an, Governor Yusuf explained that although some people may believe they have the power to influence leadership outcomes, ultimate authority rests with Allah, who grants and withdraws power according to His divine will.
He described leadership as a sacred trust bestowed by God, stressing that Allah alone decides who occupies positions of authority and when.
“As believers, we must understand that leadership comes from Allah. He gives power to whom He wills and takes it away when He wills,” the governor stated.
Governor Yusuf further noted that he has completely submitted himself to the will of Allah concerning future political developments, expressing confidence that God’s decree will always prevail.
The governor also called on pilgrims to ensure they possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) upon their return to Nigeria.
He urged those whose voter cards require renewal to do so promptly before the expiration of the registration and renewal period.
He further encouraged eligible citizens who have not yet registered to obtain their voter cards and actively participate in the democratic process.
“You should have your voter cards ready so that you can elect leaders wisely and contribute to the development of our society,” he said.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the achievements of his administration over the past three years, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, human capital development, as well as women and youth empowerment.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Kano State and urged citizens to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the populace.
