The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Muhammad Bulama, has appealed to Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, to support the revitalisation of Radio Nigeria Kaduna Station, while commending the state government for its impressive achievements in security, education, healthcare and agriculture.
Dr. Bulama made the appeal when a Kebbi State media delegation, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, paid him a courtesy visit at the FRCN headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki, the FRCN boss described the visit as a homecoming, citing the longstanding cordial relationship between the corporation and the Kebbi State Government.
He reaffirmed FRCN’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the state and pledged to continue projecting Kebbi’s developmental achievements to both national and international audiences through the corporation’s network of nearly 50 radio stations and digital platforms.
Dr. Bulama praised Governor Nasir Idris for what he described as the visible transformation taking place across Kebbi State, particularly in agriculture, education, healthcare and security.
He noted that the governor’s performance had attracted widespread attention, stressing that FRCN, as Nigeria’s public broadcaster, has a responsibility to highlight impactful development initiatives across the country.
Recalling his first visit to Kebbi shortly after the state’s creation, Dr. Bulama said he was impressed by the significant progress recorded under the current administration.
He described Kebbi as one of Nigeria’s most resource-rich states with enormous potential to contribute to national socio-economic growth.
The FRCN Director-General specifically appealed to Governor Idris to support the restoration of Radio Nigeria Kaduna’s medium-wave and shortwave transmission facilities, as well as strengthen the operations of Equity FM, Birnin Kebbi.
He observed that radio remains the most accessible and effective medium of communication, especially in rural communities, adding that enhanced collaboration between the Kebbi State Government and FRCN would improve public enlightenment, deepen government-citizen engagement, and promote peace, security and sustainable development across the North-West.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, commended FRCN for its consistent professional coverage and objective reportage of Kebbi State Government activities.
He described Dr. Bulama as a dependable friend of Kebbi State and acknowledged the corporation’s invaluable contribution to national development through responsible broadcasting.
The commissioner explained that the visit formed part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen existing partnerships with major media organisations to effectively showcase the achievements of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.
He said the governor had transformed Kebbi State through strategic investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and other critical sectors, significantly improving the state’s development profile.
Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining productive partnerships with FRCN and other media organisations in promoting good governance, assuring that Governor Nasir Idris would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening public service broadcasting and effective communication.
The Kebbi State delegation included the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Ibrahim Jombali; Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, Abdullahi Idris Zuru; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris; and Special Adviser on New Media, Aliyu Bandado.
