The Chairman of the Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee and former Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, has reaffirmed his commitment to educational development in Kano State by commissioning a new classroom block and donating N200,000 to Government Senior Secondary School, Abdu Naliti.
The event, held on July 9, 2026, drew education stakeholders, school administrators, teachers, students, parents and community leaders who witnessed the inauguration of the Alhaji Atiku Kurawa Block, named in honour of the Kurawa family for their contributions to education.
Speaking during the ceremony, Professor Kurawa commended the school management and teachers for their dedication to shaping future generations, urging students to remain disciplined, work hard and focus on their studies to become responsible leaders.
As part of the event, he presented awards and letters of recommendation to outstanding teachers in recognition of their professionalism, commitment and remarkable contributions to academic excellence.
To further support the school, Professor Kurawa announced a donation of N200,000 to assist in meeting some of its immediate needs and improving the learning environment.
He also pledged to engage the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, to advocate for greater government intervention and ensure the school receives the attention it deserves under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to education and public service, the school management presented Professor Kurawa with an Award of Excellence, describing him as a committed education advocate whose leadership and generosity continue to inspire both staff and students.
Speaking on behalf of the school, the management expressed gratitude for his unwavering support, noting that the newly commissioned block and financial donation would significantly enhance teaching and learning.
Parents, teachers, students and other guests also commended Professor Kurawa’s philanthropic gestures and sustained commitment to promoting quality education and human capital development across Kano State, describing his intervention as a worthy investment in the future of young people.
